I love his “A Walk In The Park” and “Plight of The Artist” animations, to the point I have the Walk In The Park background music on my phone and at one point found what I think was the original tracker file for that song.

I only became interested in Amiga around 4 years ago. Didn’t really know much about it beforehand. Still don’t know a lot, but love it regardless.

Obvious answer is something like switching to something like BSD, but the less obvious answer is to look into switching to AROS ( AROS Research Operating System, formerly Amiga Research Operating System ).

BSD definitely is a lot more complete compared to AROS, so using AROS will make you superior if you can find a way to keep your workflow as much as possible while making it your daily driver.

Warning: AROS is, as far as I know, not fully open source, but that can be fixed with some reverse engineering that’s well above my pay grade.

I’m a boring stable enough guy, which is why I like the distro on my laptop. Also, somewhat of an aesthetics person, so same goes for my KDE set up on that laptop.

Also the type to not like Cinnamon for the lack of customization compared to KDE.

Minus the “AI” part and I somewhat agree with the middle person, at least for HTML/CSS. I love how Bluefish has auto tag completion so I can focus on what goes inside instead of having to close open tags.

IDK if people do, but I’d assume there are some people would just to avoid the bloat of having office suite software.

I may be crazy, but for regular text file, VIM is usually my go to. But, because of tag auto completion Bluefish has been my HMTL/CSS editor for a while. Most other things are in VIM. Bash? VIM. Python? VIM. C? Trash bin! Did not like the C class I took last quarter!

Exception being things like .docx or .odt files that have no business being opened in VIM.

I was specifically thinking something similar but specifically only for beginner distros, but maybe that’s a better option.

When it comes to distros, having something like a central website or something that contains up to date info on beginner friendly distrks probably wouldn’t be the worst. Like distrowatch, but specifically just for distros like Mint or Zorin or MX or whatever.

The problem is we’d need to get people on board and find a way to advertise it. The advertising might be the hard part since I hazard a guess that there’s nobody on the Fediverse that is big enough to reach the normal computer users. Just us fediversians or whatever we’re calling ourselves.

Damn! If I can get the time and figure out how to properly backup everything on my laptop, I would absolutely wanna upgrade… after running it in a VM to see if there are any changes I’d need to concern myself with.

Just recently, less than a day ago, helped my dad install dual boot Mint ( cinnamon, yay :| ) on his laptop. Now I gotta move my windows partition onto the SSD I bought and had help installing so I can install mint on my desktop. Just in case he needs help with a problem and I can better diagnose potential problems/solutions. I’d rather switch to what I’ve got on my laptop ( MX w/ Plasma ) but someone has to be able to effectively play IT.
