It makes more sense to do it that way, but I’d want to stay for a couple of months on a distro and then hop on. The feeling is different even though it may not be.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux Mint isn't the answer for Windows refugees anymore
12·2 days agoIt’s all linux. I distro hopped because I heared another distro handles the problem I’m facing much better than the current one.
I haven’t had problems in years - or I simply don’t care anymore. I’ve got my base system and I don’t fuck around anymore. It works like a charm.
Opensuse aeon - I don’t do anything. Package manager handles everything

There is distrobox. You can install any package with that. Why not creating an easy to use wrapper around installing and exporting software in a distrobox?
There is nix and brew that both can install software. What’s keeping other package managers from doing so?

Linux@programming.dev•Question about resurrecting a discontinued distro
2·21 days agoGood thought.
With containers, you can tedt the code with your container and with mine. If you only try yours, you have to wait for me to compare the results. With containers, I shio my build and you can check the results immediately.

Linux@programming.dev•Question about resurrecting a discontinued distro
7·22 days agoIf you want to do it, use ublue. You don’t have to learn how to create a distro. You just use a ublue base and add the packages you want. It’s incredibly easy

32·23 days agoThat’s the dev perspective, I have a user perspective.
sometimes the extension works and sometimes it doesn’t. And there is no appearant reason why it doesn’t work. That leads to disliking updates because it breaks my installation. Welcome to windows :/

191·29 days agoIt’s a feature to have multiple environments. Otherwise all apps would have to stay on an old version with the lowest common dependency versions.
I agree with that. Apart from that your post was really good and that made it look bad
GNOME isn’t hated by most linux users. That’s nonsense

As long as you back up your data nothing can go wrong. Worst case is that you use a live usb for the work you have to do
But you are right, it’s always good to have some time to get to know a new system
