As far as why it does it, I could only speculate (probably inaccurately). As far as the popping is concerned, I’ve never encountered that with any distro I’ve used, even with some seriously goofy routing. Do you have some weird setup causing the issue?

I’m fortunate to have a fenced yard and a dog that absolutely does not fuck with the cold. He’s out, does his duty, then back in within like 2 minutes.

Small dog in a fenced yard, picking up after him is a non issue. His business breaks down in a matter of a couple of weeks and there’s never enough to become a problem. If he goes while on a walk, i pick it up.
My dog doesn’t have a shit box in my house that I have to clean constantly. That makes up for the 3 months it’s a little cold out.

It’s even more fun when you’re trying to do something with a file on a network share. There have been so many times where a user goes “it’s telling me i can’t save this because Suzie is using it”, i close Suzie’s abandoned session, and the file is still magically in use by Suzie. Why? Because the dialogue is broken and the file is actually open on John’s machine. I fucking hate windows.
