Ok, now I’m wondering how common this is. I’ve ran into this a few times at my local gas station the past month and when I asked about it they said it’s been doing it a bunch lately. Would be interesting if we find out there’s some sort of malware attack on gas station pumps, would be an easy way to shut down an area remotely to cause panic.

Oh geez, I completely forgot the feeling of installing a fresh new windows on a comp (like windows XP, hung onto a version called XP-black for the longest). Now adays it’s more about removing crap windows installs so it runs smoother. I wish I felt that way about linux, it is faster but I’m always jumping between distros and feels more like a test run to see if I like it.

Honestly, you’ll be better off getting into linux now than any previous years. It’s pretty easy and practical these days especially with the push into the Steam Deck. It’s pretty much plug(install)-and-play with most systems, there’s only a few outliers like custom pc’s and a small amount of games that will give you any sort of problems.

I run one windows, one mac, and like 5 linux machines. If you stick with the more popular linux distributions like debian you won’t run into weird problems. It’s only surfing weird distro’s like elementary and pop OS that I’ve had to do further troubleshooting on.

I would like to encourage more people on this platform to humbly bow out and respond with integrity when they don’t know versus the “20 replies of arguments” that drown out the conversation. You might be correct but I think your response is in poor form (unless we’re just celebrating being the lowest parts of social media).
