I walked this path at first, too. For me, it was more like my stubborn battle with Microsoft than not wanting to learn Linux (I had already learned Debian some time ago).
I’ve flip flopped back and forth, but after the recent bs with screenshot and OS-side ads (for a PAID software, mind you) I haven’t even given Windows a second glance anymore.
If you’ve got the knowledge to truly debloat Windows, you have the knowledge to set up Linux.
We need a version of this where the cat is leaving the atmosphere. We can use that for “I’m outta here”.
I mean, it is tempting to buy a replica Amulet of Mara and go to bars with it proudly on. Anyone that understood the meaning would possibly be within compatibility range.
This is probably like… number one on the “my partner might be a doomsday prepper” checklist.
Just thinking of commands I need to learn, and I think chroot is up there. Iirc, you can recover from some extremely bad system states with an ISO and chroot.
I understand the basics of what it does from it’s description, I just haven’t really dived deep enough to feel comfortable with it.
I used just plain command prompt for a long time when I was on Windows, but I did find a nice one called Tabby. The only problem is getting it to run as your default terminal.
Too bad Microsoft doesn’t really need help doing that, lol.
