It’s not really that far from the stereotypes

Women are attracted to things like wealth and stability which generally get better as men age because they want someone who can take care of them

Men have an unlimited supply of baby making material but women can only do 1 baby per 9 months (and even then depending what year you’re in (say 100,000 years ago up until 200 years ago) the quality of healthcare wasn’t great and child mortality was high) so men prioritise women who are healthier and younger in order to prioritise the chances of a young healthy baby being born and the mother living. Shame on men eh?

“Advanced maternal age” is a term that describes anyone who is 35 or older and pregnant. This is the age when your chances of pregnancy complications increase. Some of these complications are higher rates of miscarriage and a greater chance of having a baby with a genetic disorder. Advanced maternal age is the newer and preferred name for a geriatric pregnancy.

I guess saying that women 35 and over are geriatric was hurting some feelings 😅

  • They make far more when you buy a CD

Who the hell still listens to CD’s? Lets take a look at how much money they were making when CD’s were all the rage:

Oh right, it was declining massively because people were pirating MP3’s just like Lemmy users earlier suggested.

Vinyl record sales are outdoing CD’s:

    or go to a concert’

Just fyi there’s nothing clamping you to Spotify, I’ve had Spotify since June 2012 and been to plenty of concerts since then

large rightsholders who already have wealth taken a massively disproportionate amount of that

Then listen to smaller artists? The more you listen to them the bigger their share the more money they make…

    last reply …

  • I support artists more than the pennies spotify pays them

    Wrong

Spotify has reported a record payout of $10 billion (A$15.4 billion) in royalties to the music industry for 2024, marking the largest annual payment from a single retailer in history.

And it’s not pennies, you pay ~$15 a month, of which 70% goes to labels, 30% goes to Spotify, that’s $10 a month that goes to all labels and artists.

Artists I like I’ll buy their merch, go to their shows, etc

Oh now you mention merch and shows, good one.

If you want to leach music for free by pirating music and spitting in the face of artists do it, just don’t think you have any moral high ground.
