If you expect that people will in reality treat the project as if it is copyleft. Why not support it being officially copyleft? Why just trust corporations to be good citizens when you could insist on it?
Oh yes. Like you I only used it on my gaming rig, and 2 years ago switched to Linux even for that
wasn’t really thinking about it, because all I did was launch the games I wanted to play.
It getting increasingly belligerent trying to get me to switch to a Microsoft account over the last decade was by itself enough to make me furious.
Just a meme https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/programming-socks
I use vscode (or codium when not at work) these days because it’s a one stop shop for every language and every feature I could ever need is possible with a plugin. I have used visual studio, intelliJ and others in the past, and i fail to see the distinction from a usage perspective
But then if you put enough bells and whistles on text editors, do they become an ide?
Yes
Kate, my beloved
I would call vscode(ium) an IDE

You can keep using sddm. It isn’t being discontinued. In fact you can use any login manager you want. Plasma is not going to enforce one.
I personally am happy about the new plasma login manager, because it will allow features they couldn’t reasonably implement with sddm.
The people upset about this is a classic case of getting upset about things that won’t affect them at all.
Service (daemon) lifecycles are managed via the system services api.
Long running headless processes on windows generally still have an event loop and a window handle via which they process those messages.
You’re right about Linux but you’re wrong about windows. It is sent to the event loop in windows https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/winmsg/window-notifications. It’s been a long time since it was my job, but you actually had to pass a certification that your application exited gracefully in response to these messages as part of the partner program back in the day.
That’s cute, but you’re complaining about people expressing their opinions on a platform where the entire point is to comment on posts…
People having seen the exact same joke that isn’t even good for a decade or more…

Followed the link. Two blurbs that are plenty to turn me off it:
Homebrew on-tap by default, same tools as your Mac
No thanks. I don’t need anything from Mac. I actually hate using Mac including the headaches that homebrew brings. I only use it for work and only because I hate it less than windows and Linux isn’t a choice.
For professionals and AI/ML engineers
So it’s catering to AI. No thanks.

“Distroless”
looks inside
Distro
I’ve never liked this joke. I guess it’s supposed to be that the husband does the literal action as described, but instead it’s just that they interpreted ambiguity opposite than expected? It just really doesn’t work very well :/
Oh snap
