I did not have fun reading it. Thanks for ruining my day.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Where to go now since Linux is mainstream
1·5 days agoWell its Linux?
I actually did not, I just included it in the reply that I think it’s funny.
I think I stopped getting issues at around Debian 10. Funny enough I now experience issues on different Ubuntu installs so I stop recommending it to newcomer.
Getting downvoted for asking why is funny. I think your Debian Stable experience is a decade old or something. I don’t need to fix anything manually on a fresh install and can game just fine.
It is not
Life savers? What the fuck is a polo mint. Ay mate is it raining cats and dogs over there?

Linux@programming.dev•I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktop

I was having a great day, the sun was shining, I felt great and was about to find a cure against cancer. While I was at 95% of making a break through I thought why not have a well deserved little break. So there was me sitting outside in the sun, having a cup of freshly pressed orange juice I read this story. It was a sharp and fast drive to rock bottom. After crippling depression has rendered me unable to keep up further with the daily struggles of life, my wife decided to leave me. My 3 children looked me straight into the eyes and told me that I have failed them, not only as a father but as a human. My neighbour started clapping. After I got a notice on Teams that I was layed off as a direct consequence, I was just unable to continue my work on the cancer antidote. It was then that my landlord had informed me that I have another 5 minutes to clear out the apartment, after that the utility guys are coming, exchanging the lock and throwing everything away they still find.
I was sitting outside in the snow that started to turn into mud while it rained. I called my parents in hope that I could maybe get some shelter there, but unfortunately they both died from severe disgrace after I explained them what happened.
This good damn story, why did I read it, I should’ve known better, I should have seen how awful fucking long it was going to be to tell a simple joke with endless of unnecessary details. Who is the real victim in this story? Is it the dog? The car owner? Or is it the reader that wasted his time at best and got kicked into a spiral of misery at worst.
