They look suspiciously unbaked to me.

I think you’re underestimating the heavy lifting being done by “adequately”. Does stupidity adequately explain a corporation doing evil shit that made them a bunch of money? Absolutely not.
I don’t have hard data, but if my experience is at all representative then you’re much more likely to be able to run a 25 year old Windows program on Linux than on Windows.

3·17 days agoI have a pair of Bluetooth earbuds that I sometimes use with my laptop. The actual BT connection goes smoothly in the KDE ui, but they don’t show up as an audio device until I restart the audio service in the terminal.
Please list the ways it is unlike itself.

3·21 days agoI’ve had some system updates lately that reduced disk usage.
It’s difficult to imagine that ever happening on Windows.

You say that as though testicles can’t be ornamental. (Or festive, sparkly, etc.)

wat.
In general it seems odd that they’ve got Windows and Mac as monoliths, while the various distros are broken out individually but “Linux” is apparently not an aggregate.

‘It’s a lot more complicated than that—’
‘No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.’—Terry Pratchett, Carpe Jugulum

I honestly don’t know how nh works under the hood, but it does seem to do concurrent builds, so it’s probably something like that.
nix flake update nix flake check --no-build git commit -a nh os switchIs the routine I’ve settled into. Flake update because I use flakes, flake check because it’s easier to see any warnings about deprecated options and the like so I can fix them preemptively, git commit after the check to avoid back-to back commits where the second is fixing some issue with the first, and nh because I like the pretty dependency graph and progress bar.

Coca-Cola switched from fresh to spent coca leaves in 1903, so the '50s are about a half century too late for cocaine in sodas.

2·7 months agoCiv VI has a Linux build, but one of the DLCs does not. If you install the “complete” pack on Linux without forcing proton, it will just silently skip it and you’ll be left scratching your head about where that content is.

Ubuntu circa 2008 it is, then.
