If it requires an internet connection just to use, that’s a no-go. Thanks for a suggestion though.

I came from Sony Vegas to kdenlive. I am absolutely thrilled to have broken away from Windows and joined the Linux bandwagon but I’m not going to pretend kdenlive is a better video editor. It’s the best I’ve found and good enough for my use case but I miss Sony’s UI. I could say the same about GIMP vs Photoshop.
All that said, it’s still totally worth the switch and I have zero regrets. I’d rather relearn some things than bend over for the corporations that seek to exploit us.

I actually did not know there are two clipboards. Why/how do they work?
DeGoogle your phone.

As a Mint user, how many months/years shall I wait to see this update?

There seems to be very few CAD options on linux sadly. And despite the decades of marvelous work on GIMP, it’s still not on par with photoshop.

If they want to make their game incompatible with the best gaming systems I will simply not play it.

I wish more companies could think ahead like this. Even when it’s obvious, many just won’t. Long live Valve!
What kind of power requirements is this going to have while standalone? I’m guessing it’ll chew through batteries.

Excellent points but I would argue that for the majority of users, Mint does indeed just work right out of the box. Everything that most people would need is already there.

I’ve been purging all big tech from my life as much as possible. Meta was easy because they don’t really offer anything. It took quite a while to eliminate google. Once that was done, it was Microsoft’s turn.
I’ve also been absolutely fed up with Windows over the years. Each release somehow gets worse and more clunky and in my way of doing what I’m trying to do. So on top of being untrustworthy, using my data and generally being capitalist assholes, Microsoft’s product itself is shit.
I installed Mint and seen what innovation actually looks like. I also realized most of the things I love about android are actually features of linux under the hood. So I intend to jump on the linux phone bandwagon as well.
I’ve been using Photoshop for over 20 years. That’s been the hardest part. GIMP is impressive but for as long as it’s been around it’s still a little rough around the edges here and there. I’m learning to deal with it though.
I’m literally camping out in the woods right now and installed linux on a mini PC last night. No real home, no job, but I’ve got penguins!
…you can just make a second account…
I’m already gone if I have to make an account to run an OS on my hardware. Fuck everything about that.

Mint’s installer makes it pretty easy to set it up for dual boot so you can keep windows on the machine to try things out.

Then there’s VRChat which uses AntiCheat, which is basically a rootkit for windows…

Same. VR is the only reason I’ve still got a PC with windows on it.

There’s been a lot of progress in 15 years. This would be a good time to give it another go. Mint is stupid easy to install along side windows.
Yeah that was the first one I tried. I was very excited about it too. But it would not run on my hardware.
