Money and time. I was on the grind for 20 years and poor as shit for the great majority of my life. I didn’t have the time to go do all the things I do now.
So I’m the middle aged guy riding a motorcycle, playing in bands, drinking too much in public as long as I’m not driving, going to every concert of nearly every genre I can get to…you know, living. I’m not in crisis, I’m having the time of my life. I’d say the last 8ish years have been the absolute most fun of my life.
I was mad when they got rid of our local Video Zone. That place had the best ridiculous horror movies. Blockbuster had only the most middle of the road bullshit.
Depending on the position I could see any of them, but I can’t imagine why you’d need all three for one application. Social Media Director of Programming Middle Management?
About 15 years ago there was a company I did some work for (I was at an MSP at the time) who wanted to virtualize certain systems. Great. No problem. Except those systems needed to read floppies. Ok, I can pass it through. Except they wanted to get away from floppies. Great, let’s get you a newer system from a different vendor because this one went out of business when NT4 was still the big dog. Nope, too much money and the process would change.
So I had to reregister every DLL by hand because the installation didn’t work on Server 2008 r2. And every few months it would have to be done again because one of the guys thought himself a genius and kept messing up the janky ass workflow we put together to download info from thumb drives to a virtual floppy.
So plug in the drive, janky ass script creates a virtual floppy in drive A of the server, and manually (eventually I just wrote a script because I didn’t want to get that call on a Saturday) register each DLL every so often. And they’d rather pay the company I worked for several hundred dollars a month than pay a couple of grand one time that would have paid for itself in less than a year.
I’m already a cowboy skeleton, just with a few extra layers.
I’m a hair older than him.
I hurt pretty often. I get tired more easily. I have hangovers now. If I jump out of the bed of a pickup my knees make noises. I could go on for days about it.
And it’s great. I don’t worry about what people think and I have adventures. I do what I want outside of work. And I have stories and hobbies and old friends.
That didn’t even deserve an article. What an absolute nothing of a response.
My buddy has one. “To threaten someone” would be a valid response. I’ve seen him take it off after telling someone he’s going to put his foot up their ass.

Absolutely not. It’s 20 minutes away from going in the freezer for 8 months with the promise of gross banana bread that will never get made, and the banana will be found and they’ll make a special trip to buy new bananas which will also go in the freezer with the promise of gross banana bread. Repeat every 8 months.
I actually assumed it would take the place of art for money laundering.
I don’t know if it would work, but I’d definitely show up for it.
I’m in favor of a good food theme.
So to appeal to a younger generation they made a minimalist logo and are removing any trace of personality? I mean, their personality wasn’t my thing (haven’t been in many, many years) but I have no idea why they couldn’t try new personality instead of no personality.
Alternatively, have they tried making their food good? That might work.
Jokes on her. I have forgotten all the good information I had back when I held a clearance and I’m incredibly boring.
Nope. It’s you and me, buddy. They learned from a fancy talker and a drunk. That’s why they just make shit up.
How will they sell a human at the lowest cost? People have to eat and sleep.
I’ve got a buddy who does a variation of this. He’s got a little shack pretty close to town. He’ll work in the oil field for a few months, come hang out with everyone, and live a “normal” life. Then when he’s saved up enough he rolls out and lives in the woods with his dog hunting and fishing and growing veggies. We go by and check on his place every so often to make sure no one has broken in and it’s not rotting to the ground.
When he no longer has the money to stay in the woods he comes back. I say that, but he’s got the skills to feed himself out there. I think he gets bored after a year or two and wants to be around people for a while.
I asked him about retirement once and he’s got another shack right on a lake that’s been paid off since the 90s. His plan is to go there and fish and not come back.
It does not remain to be seen. Blood and Honey already exists.
I haven’t stolen a street sign in about three decades but I’ll admit I’d seriously consider taking this one.
