I’ve tried getting Windows XP games to run both in windows 7/10/11 and wine with little success. However, I have gotten them to work in Windows XP virtual machines.

A self-citation in a double-blind review should just look like a normal citation of 3rd party work.
Unless you are saying specifically “in my previous work”.
I suppose it depends on the writing style.
You are supposed to cite your own relevant work and this sounds like he may have not
This is good to know. I’ve seen the aurora once and it was like the bottom of the graph describes it - a very faint glow, barely noticeable to the naked eye, but it turned up much better in photos.

There are cables in the windows side but not the Linux side, which also seems like an odd choice for a human to make to me.
I’m gaming on Bazzite gnome Wayland with a 3090. There’s been some tweaking to get HDR and VRR working but no major issues.
Computer science was all Linux at my college. Xubuntu, specifically.

Tech@programming.dev•Nearly 90% of Windows Games now run on Linux, latest data shows — as Windows 10 dies, gaming on Linux is more viable than ever
3·3 months agoDoesn’t seem to be a bug.
here’s an issue on GitHub for GE-Proton about this problem, where they blame it on Valve.
As I understand it, PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND is needed for HDR, at least on gnome, which is what I am using.
I think KDE might have somewhat better HDR support right now, but I much prefer gnome and am trying to use Bazzite as a daily driver besides just games.
SSH in and forcibly uninstall all Nvidia packages, then reinstall them fresh following Nvidia’s website.
At least this has worked for me on Ubuntu on several occasions.

I’ve started trying out Bazzite, but it’s definitely not ready to replace Windows yet. HDR was a pain to get working, only for me to find SteamInput is disabled when I get HDR active. I haven’t tried VR yet, but I’m a bit worried that won’t go well.

Linux@programming.dev•Have you or someone close to you converted to Linux recently (with Windows 10's end of support)?
6·3 months agoI’ve been doing my work in Linux for a while now. I’ve started trying out Bazzite for gaming. It’s been quite nice, but not without issues.

As for 4020, writing performant code in Python typically means calling into libraries that are written in C.

13·4 months agoIt’s going to stop receiving security updates, making it risky to keep it connected to the internet.
It’s probably fine, but if you use the internet on it regularly you could get hacked, and if you want to run newer software on it, that will become a problem.
If you want to try a linux OS for it, I would strongly recommend Bazzite. I just started using it. It works quite well out of the box, and is specifically designed for running windows games on Linux as smoothly as possible.
