Linux@programming.dev•PipeWire 1.4.10 Brings Fixes for Volume Restore and Pulse Server Streams
1·3 days agoThat really would depend on the quality of hardware and drivers. Only more than 10 years ago did I got that and it was a weird laptop barely working would linux.
Congrats and welcome. The year of linux is when each person decides for themselves.
If you need help with anything make sure to say something very wrong while asking.
Exactly what I feel when I look or have to interact with anything that doesn’t have pacman 😅

Linux@programming.dev•New Runtime Standby ABI Proposed For Linux Akin To Microsoft Windows' "Modern Standby"
31·26 days agoI was forced to use a mac recently. I believe this may be what it also does. It’s absolute insanity and I hate the behavior with passion. If I put it to sleep I want it to stay sleeping, dead, not running, not using the network, not draining my Bluetooth headphones that were connected and I expected for them to turn off… or to keep receiving slack notifications on it instead of them routing properly to the other really connected device…
I hate this timeline.

You need to start installing more electron applications and a bunch of jvms too.
Imagine living in a place where fire arms are a reality around you and you need constant worry about it.

Linux@programming.dev•780k Windows Users Downloaded Linux Distro Zorin OS in the Last 5 Weeks
4·2 months agoThese kind of distros always existed. I’m pretty sure I still have CDs around with Lindows from around the same Mandrake and Knoppix was the cool stuff.
What really are these magical “optmizations” besides installing the default packages available on every distro?
Or put the image broken loading icon in the black square.
I can confidently say that I used Ubuntu (different versions even) many years ago on work computers and the Frankenstein monster it became and it breaking when updating was a real problem. I’ll never do it again. Arch has it’s problems but less worries managing it and updating.
The lts trap + old kernel version + plus their horrible custom patching of it + needing other ppas for some hardware to work on top of that of custom patched kernel to support whatever specific thing the laptop needed that was available on more recent kernel version + the need for some apps/tools with recent versions… Hell, all of it.

The octopus looks sexy.
