That doesn’t justify their salary.

My workflow is importing my whole SD card to Darktable after a shooting session, which is somewhere in the hundreds, infrequently nearing a thousand. It grinds to a halt until it’s done importing, and slows down significantly when I’m doing a lot of processing to a single image, but it has never ever crashed or really threatened to crash.
I use the Flatpak version.
What unholy incantations are you performing in Darktable for it to crash?

Funny@sh.itjust.works•I think Disney doesn't quite understand what piracy is
205·4 months agoA good pirate doesn’t steal other peoples stuff! They simply take a copy. Yarr.
I ask with genuine curiosity, what do you need a CDN for?
We dislike it because nobody needs it. Nobody here is getting DDoS’d to any extend that needs external protection.
I’m talking anecdotally but it seems to me that all the people who ride-or-die Cloudflare are also self-hosters who aren’t very knowledgeable about self-hosting concepts and just heard that cloudflare protects against all these imaginary problems because they sure do sound scary!

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•the myth of the good tech giant
475·6 months agoI like what he does and that he can rally people to a cause, but he consistently misses the mark.
In order to escape the corrupt bureaucracy of New York, he moved to… Texas.
I think he’s a ‘path of least resistance’ kind of guy, not ideologically driven but rather “I don’t wanna deal with it” driven. He has deemed that it is easier to move to Texas because the corruption there affects him less directly and more abstractly, and he chooses to front Right to Repair because it is easier to lobby and rally people than it is to work in his industry without his political influence.
He has a front row seat to the horrors of capitalism and, without missing a beat, says “I’m not a socialist, I’m a capitalist” because it’s easier to be a shitlib than it is to believe in something bigger.

And then there is meningspunktet.dk which had all the time in the world to do whatever they wanted, and even get their hosting paid for by a university. They still leaked everyones email, phone, full legal name and location on day one and only fixed it because I pointed it out.

Linux@programming.dev•X11 forked, Denmark moves to Linux, Android ROMs are in trouble: Linux & Open Source News
9·8 months agoI wonder if Denmark ditching Microsoft is directly related to Schleswig-Holstein doing it. Specially given they’re neighbours.
It’s not, but our direct neighbors announcing it first surely helped the people lobbying to get it considered. It’s also not the entire Government, just a small portion of it. Some municipalities have already been using Linux on user-facing computers like in libraries and I’m sure on the inside, as well.
The discussion is up because of the current American administration, and would continue to be up regardless of if Schleswig-Holstein or anyone else announcing their intentions to do the same.

I could point out that I didn’t say they should be paid less, either, but my heart isn’t in it. I hope you have a good day doing whatever that is.
