For profit journalism is a curse to the society. All news source globally should be non-profit with ad revenues enough to ensure comfortable wages to reporters. There should be a capped revenue beyond which And any excess ad revenues should be put in a trust that helps to save niche journalism that might not be ad lucrative.
Of course inflation and national wage should be adjusting said cap every year.
And that dream will probably never come True in my lifetime, but hey a man can dream.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•I Assumed 'Twas The Boot CodeEnglish
29·3 months agoI had to disconnect power button from mobo because my room mate’s cat would just shut it off, luckily I had a case whose side panel was very easy to open with a hinge, so I tied two cables near the latch and to turn it in, I’d turn the latch open the case, quickly short the cables and close the panel and latch.
Thanks for reminding me of that. Also I swear that cat knew what I did and kept trying to open the latch for a few months before giving up.

Then don’t enable it, I hate the AI but there are people who want it and calibre implemented it the right way. Its opt in, you have to configure AI provider first before that no code related to ai is loaded. That’s best way to implement AI.
I had the perfect roommate, he had night shifts, he’d do 00:00 to 09:00. He would come home around 10:00 and sleep toll 18:00 and then we’d enjoy our evening together. I’d go to bed and he’d go to work. He’d been doing this for 6 years at that point and it suited him fine and he was healthy as a horse.
I think the thing that worked for him was treating even the weekends like weekday and he’d sleep through most of his Saturday/Sunday daylight.

It’s a loose analogy anyway. Europeans like to see themselves as heroes.
