Dual booting with Ubutu a couple tiimes over the last decade, then tried dual booting with Mint 3 years ago on W10, thenW11 is annouced, seems the enshitifaction would be worse but, didn’t use Mint, same reasn I’d not used Ubuntu, fell back on the familiar.

Purchased a new NVME 2 years ago, instilled Mint on it and took the dual boot NVME physically out, 3 months later formated it and use it for Timeshift :) Then.went to LMDE.

Eventually got sick of the nagging on my infrequently used Surface Pro 7 about going to W11 and did the same thing there, wiped it and installed LMDE, a few hiccups but used the Surface Pro drivers from Github and got it sorted eventually, touch works etc

The main reason i stayed was Adobe Lighroom but that was enshitifying as well. I still haven’t wrapped my head around Darktable properly but less time spent on photography these days as well

I mean i actually used Wordperfect for DOS back in the day, so why ? Liber Office is a thing and works.

I went with Linux Mint Debian Edition. Couple hiccups over the last 18 months but queries in the Mint help forum fixed those problems. I use Flatpacs when I can.

I have zero idea what I’m doing :)

LibreOffice is excellent and EU based so I use and prefer that.

Grab a 1 TB nvme, take the Widows one out, install the new SSD boot the USB thumbdrive, install Bazzite (or Mint) and off you go, that’s all I did. I’m running LMDE but not a big gamer, so the little I do play all works on Mint Debian Edition.

If it all gives you the shits after a time, just put the old SSD back in and boot back into Windows.

True but like Reddit shitting the bed every 8 months leads to waves of folks on Lemny, or Twaxter doing the same thing leading to Mastodon waves. This wikl be another wave but how many ? Maybe a few 1000 only I guess ? I left for Mint about 3 years ago (dual boot defaulting to Mint) then to LMDE 12 months ago.
