  • Local bars here have the same thing.

The app won’t let you play the same song twice in a row. But, if it’s the same song on a different album, no worries.

My go to is 5 or 6 sweet home Alabamas in a row. I’ve only done 2 or 3 times, much to my friends chagrin.

These days I get side eyes from the very first sweet home Alabama. Heck, I’ll be sitting home on my couch and get texts from buddies, “are you screwing with me? Are you playing sweet home Alabama right now?!”

Usually it wasn’t me. Usually. 🤫

  • I’ll uh, I’ll take you up on that matrix add. My system is solid right now, but it’d be nice to have that option in my back pocket should I get stuck on something 😬

Edit: additionally, I agree wholeheartedly that immutable is the way forward for newbies in Linux, and honestly maybe even a power users workstation that needs maximum uptime/reliability.

I’ve been fiddling with Linux for over 20 years myself, but never INTENSELY, if that makes sense. I’d tinker with it on an old PC, dual boot my main PC, break it, go back to Windows for a year or two, tinker again, go fully Linux for a year, break it, back to Windows, etc etc.

I’ve been running Bluefin for almost a year, and I guarantee you it’s gonna stick this time. It’s so good, covers almost all my needs, and now I can’t break it!

  • Recommendation?

We use tidy cats stone pellets with the pee pads liner.

Not environmentally friendly, but it’s the first time I’ve actually not minded dealing with the box.

We never used normal litter, it’s terrible. We used to use the tidy cats brand scoop able stuff. And that worked… Fine. Solids came out easy enough. But urine was either too gummy if you tried scooping it too soon. Or it broke up into stinky little bits too small for the scoop, if you waited too long. And God forbid the cat dig to the bottom before peeing, so the clay glues itself to the bottom of the bin, amplifying the goo/break problem.

And eventually, no matter how well you scoop, the little bits of urine build up and start to stink like ammonia, until you have to throw all the litter away and wash the box. Which is extra unpleasant if it’s winter.

But the stone pellets and pad? The solids are easily scooped. And the urine is trapped in the pad, locked in, never smell it.

And no matter what you do, cats will track litter around the house. But the stones are so big and heavy that they almost all fall off the paw before they make it 5 feet from the box, so the area to clean is much smaller. And the stones are surprisingly less annoying to step on.

My friend has the cedar pellets, and it’s better than litter, yes, in some ways. But I still smell the ammonia.

I will say we’ve never tried the crystal cat litter, and some of our other friends swear by it.

  • Interesting, I’ve never heard it described that way. I’m running Bluefin for a year, and up to now I’ve just avoided making any system level changes. I run flatpacks for most things, and containers for any odd bits that need dependencies.

Is what you’re describing, using rpmostree? I haven’t used it yet, afraid of messing things up, because I LOVE the stability I have now.

Used to run Ubuntu, and I’d reinstall for every new release, because I’d already mucked up my install anyway so might as well start fresh. And other times I’d just break stuff so thoroughly I needed to reinstall.

  • Picked up an Oroville redenbacher air popper from Goodwill for $5, basically brand new, manual and everything (not that there’s much to know). We’ve been going crazy with it. Highly recommend.

I grew up with one, but have never owned my own. Always used microwave popcorn. But with the chemical concerns in that, this feels healthier 🤷‍♂️
