Sometimes a joke is just a joke. I get your meaning.

My ex and I were joking about that. I asked her what kind of car would instantly cause her to nope out if someone came to pick her up… “PT Cruiser.” No hesitation.
I am inclined to agree.
As for the “assumed OOP” thing - we all do that, I think. I know I do constantly and have to check myself, even though I think it’s pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. That is, of course, as long as we can all agree about PT Cruisers. ;)
You live in an appearance obsessed fantasy world full of people who say that “YouTuber” and “Influencer” are their #1 career choices.
Sensible people don’t see anything wrong with a Civic.
That’s what I love in my open source software. Bureaucracy.
Yep. And this is why I have gripes about it being fully adopted.
That said, it’s fine otherwise. Snappy.
KDE Plasma is what I’m running. Doesn’t do this with X11, does with Wayland. Same goes for virtual desktops.
I wish Wayland would do basic shit like save my window positions for multi-screens. I hate having to set that up every time I reboot.
Absolutely came here to say this. It’s so abrasive that I want it just to flaunt.
I love that for you.
Cool. Glad it worked for you.
Yeah, that’s cool. For me, the beauty of Arch is how naked it is when I install it. It’s like “least priveleges” but for my workstation. I only add the crap I want. No more, no less.
I cut my teeth on FreeBSD 2.2.1 way back in '97 or whenever the hell that came out. Suffice it to say, that OS was naked as hell. Arch feels like coming home to me in a strange way, even though BSD is still solid. Linux is a much better workstation that BSD these days.
edit: perhaps I’m something of a masochist. :)
I get that people like things to be easier, but honestly, Arch’s installation process is so streamlined these days that I don’t see that as the selling point. However, if it provides a better driver experience, then that’s cool. Simply not something I need.

10·1 month agoThis is a lesson all of lemmy needs to learn. I got four posts in a row about Anna’s Archive this morning, all posted to different “Technology@” communities across Lemmy.
He meant Steven Hawking.
He meant Steven Hawking.
I do not care to delve into the personal life of all scientists, particularly physicists, who rarely opine on human nature. Hawking’s contributions to astrophysics and quantum physics are unrelated to his associations with shitty humans. In that arena, however, I do prefer Leonard Susskind over Hawking, in that Hawking’s fucking ego would not let him consider other positions related to certain topics. (In short, yes, he was a douche bag).
There’s an excellent book by Susskind called the Black Hole Wars about how he was right and Hawking was a dick when it came to how black holes consume objects and the data therein. Hawking eventually conceded to Susskind reluctantly after a few decades.
