  • And Google, Amazon, Apple.

Steam peaks at ~40-45 million concurrent users so far. The Switch sold over 150 million units. Of course, there’s no way to know what the peak concurrent switch users were, or the total count of unique steam users from 2017-2025, but I still think these numbers are good indicators that Steam is NOT the gigantic monopoly that the vocal minority of haters think they are.

  • Your arguments sound incredibly familiar.

“Not all trans women are bad, but enough if then are predators that we need to ban them from women’s restrooms and sports!”.

“Not all Mexicans are bad, but the ones who are trying to cross the border into the US are criminals and need to be stopped!”

“I’ve heard of a white woman who said she was raped by a black man, and that’s why we need segregation!”

“Women are so delicate and helpless that we need special rules to protect them!”

The consequences are negligible for men

They are if you assume that the services would be “sperate but equal”. Wait a minute… Where have I heard that one before?

Racists love to talk about crime statistics and claim (erroneously) that they could eliminate 50% of the crime by removing 13% of the population. Is it worth the cost of dehumanization? Is it worth sewing divisions within society? Is it worth just brushing marginalized groups aside and pretending they don’t exist?

This program is all of the red flags of segregation and prejudice. It always ends the same way, every time it’s been tried. There’s no way that you can safely slice up populations of people without leading to the same issues that it always brings.

  • Wow you’re making a whole hell of a lot of assumptions and generalizations about trans and non-binary folks.

What exactly are we trying to get women away from here? People with Y chromosomes? Well, that includes trans women. People with testosterone? Well that includes trans men. People with muscles? There’s significant overlap between the most muscular woman and the least musclar man. People wearing men’s clothing? Well then that opens up conversations about cis cross dressers and drag artists, let alone greater discussions about clothing and fashion trends over time, let alone non-binary people.

You cannlt execute this solution without hand waiving away some amount of bigotry and prejudice. That is because it is a bigoted and prejudiced idea.

  • If she is 81 in 2025, that means she would have been 21 in 1965. If she’s in the US, that means she would have been in her mid-20’s for the hippie movement.

Hard to say what country she is from or lives in now, but tattoos gained a lot of popularity globally during WW2. If you were to go into a retirement home like 20 years ago, tattoos would probably be considered scandalous scars from a shady past. But today they are pretty common.

  • A couple of different controversies. He has posts on Reddit (that have since been deleted, but you can find them archived) talking about how student-teacher sexual relationships can often be consensual.

The more famous controversy is this one. Which is hard to summarize other than him being a general asshole to fans, and while he didn’t really say anything too terrible he uses a lot of red-flag language talking about “cancel culture” and “sjw’s” which, in my experience, is only used unirlnically by shitty people.

Exactly. The whole world suffers from that. And I’ve seen a LOT of Democrats get absolutely destroyed by their bases for supporting it. Fetterman went from being a folk hero of work class Pennsylvanians to a genocide-mongerer. Cory Booker just pulled off a pretty amazing feat of giving a 25 hour filibuster and yet the news cycle very quickly shifted to how he voted with Republicans to continue bombing Palestine.

This meme doesn’t make sense to me because I’ve never seen Republicans send that accusation towards Democrats. If anything, Republican criticisms tend to go the other way: that Democrats should mind their own business and that there is a moral obligation to limit the scope of government (not that they actually care about that, but they say they do).
