I will never understand why the vast majority of those mostly awesome effects were dumped and never added to KDE.

I LOVE the 3D desktop cube and actually used it as a tool and as a bling to show off. After some 5 years without, KDE finally brought the cube back but now only under some weird ass key combo and only as useless bling.

KDE, bring back the eye candy and make it useful eye candy, please!

I don’t hate it at all, if this were an option, especially if the hair would move, I’d consider it…

What’s it with the Wayland hate?

X did a great job for decades but it’s old, it never was designed for modern day requirements, let it retire gracefully instead of dumping on it’s replacement, maybe?

I understand there are some apps that still require X, those at some point will be / should be / have to be updated, but I don’t see that as a reason not to want to move forward to something better

With the masks, this seems to be Mexican Lucha libre, which can get quite crazy (like Jesus fighting midgets or something) and quite a spectacle to beholdin person. I would completely recommend you go see a show if you’re ever in Mexico, great ambiance, greet fun

But in general, I’m very happy with Kubuntu, it’s been my main os forost of the 25+ years that I’ve used a Linux desktop. It’s very easy to use and has mostly been very reliable, especially the server variant. KDE desktop always has been awesome

We’re at a point that AI is shoved hard in everything and your mother, yet actual useful applications for AI barely get any attention.

It’s all about the useless and criminal like chat bots, nudifier apps, and the hilarious claims that AI really can do software development

It’s all pushed by lying psychopaths who convince empty headed politicians (seriously, we need a required IQ test or something for people who want to become politician) to invest billions in their bubble balloons.

Those billions are them used to build new datacenters that nobody wants and which destroy the environment in all sorts of creative ways

This is not a tool used wrong. This is somebody inventing guns and now everybody wants to shoot those guns at everything and your mother.

If tomorrow AI and the knowledge we have about it would completely disappear from the world, it would be a better place.

Am I the o oy one on Kubuntu? The 25.10 install is amazingly stable with one exception that gwenview continuously kills the audio server when it plays a video. Then again, gwenview has always been quite horrible, i should find something better

I just love how Linux is awesome and outperforms windows in just about any metric, and every update is basically making it faster, better, more secure, and more featureful.

I love how easy it has become to get it to run, even when confronting complicated problems

Meanwhile, I try to type a document in Microsoft Word online, because unfortunately that’s is het we still use at work but it keeps randomly and quietly deleting text that I wrote 30 seconds prior. That high quality, of course, is all due to the AI vibe coding that is all the rage at Microsoft now.

Having said that, this design was so bad that she should not have been doing any of this. If you don’t know that SQL allows you to select multiple columns then by all means, do a tutorial, it’s not that hard.

If you don’t even know what encryption is, that passwords need hashing and what not, then you should really question what you’re doing
