Programmer Humor@programming.dev•feat: Add CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md by numinit · Pull Request #15 · JiaT75/STestEnglish
31·3 months agoFor anyone out of the loop JiaTan was a malicious user known for the XZ Utils attack which almost caused catastrophic damages across the whole internet.
It’s difficult to estimate just what the impact would have been had the attack not been caught by Andres Freund who happened to stumble across the attack while looking into performance issues.
Whoever JiaTan is, you can kindly deport yourself off the face of the planet. Thanks.

Linux@programming.dev•JayzTwoCents' Linux benchmarks feel OFF... - Gardiner BryantEnglish
1·3 months agoI somewhat agree with this.
Personally I view Jay as the better version of Linus from LTT but still in the same camp of “I dunno if I should fully trust his info”.
No offense to Jay. I think he’s genuinely trying to learn and my opinion of him was improved after he asked GN’s Steve and crew in trying to improving their benchmarking process.
If possible I would still prefer if he delayed making some vids about topics outside his field of expertise until he had a good foundation to talk from.
Sort of like:
Late is just for a little while, suck is forever.’ Right?

Linux@programming.dev•JayzTwoCents' Linux benchmarks feel OFF... - Gardiner BryantEnglish
1·3 months agoNot sure you needed to duplicate the entire video description as it’s mostly self promo.
Really just the chapters is actually useful for the vid
I’m temporarily downvoting primarily because the majority of the post’s quotes aren’t useful or relevant for Gardiner’s vid.

Linux@programming.dev•A Number Of Problems Make Debian & Other Linux Distros A Pain On Snapdragon X LaptopsEnglish
12·4 months agoI feel like I have to disagree with the title and arrangement of the article as these Linux distros have been around for quite a longer time period than Snapdragon X hardware.
At this point I feel that it’s part of the hardware’s manufacturers responsibility to pay and work with the distro developers to get the desired distros working on their new hardware especially since most distros just work on x86_64 laptops nowadays.
