Since that article was published, I have dealt with one minor catastrophe after another. None of that has anything to do with Linux, mind you. It just meant I didn’t install it on my desktop until Sunday evening.

The proposed change just stops setting middlemouse.paste to true by default, and there are comments suggesting tying it to GTK’s corresponding preference.

People that know about this functionality and really love this functionality can easily override the setting.

Not mentioned in the OP is that both discussions include a setting to enable middle mouse button paste for those who want it; it will just be off by default. Everyone calm down.
losing integration because “containerized”Bollocks. I’ve seen that many times with Flatpak (can’t speak for Snap), and every single time it was either because the packager failed to set up permissions or because the user messed with permissions that the application needed. Break off the tip of a screwdriver and it will no longer function as a screwdriver.
Well then I guess you haven’t tried to get a password manager like KeepassXC to work with a Flatpak browser, because none of the solutions I’ve seen are “fix the permissions”.

Steam Deck Verified games should be fine, and a lot of non-Verified games were only downgraded to “Playable” because of issues that may not matter on a desktop, like small text (what’s small on a Steam Deck screen may not be small on a monitor) or needing to manually trigger the on-screen keyboard (a desktop is usually accompanied by a physical keyboard).
Maybe I’m just picky, but I think Mint replacing the standard Firefox icon should lower its place on the list of distros for people coming from Windows. Out of their preinstalled applications, Firefox is the one a Windows user is probably the most likely to be familiar with, and out-of-the-box they’ve got it pinned to the taskbar with an icon that a Windows user won’t recognize. There’s so many other distros where a Windows user can log in and clearly spot Firefox.
Mint was the default suggestion for people switching from Windows until a few days ago, and then Zorin popped up.
Since people don’t seem to realize that vim has a help system: You can get to this information with :help quit or :help exit
To be more precise, q means quit the current window. If you’ve split the window, e.g. with :split or :vsplit, use :qa to quit all windows.
The author doesn’t seem to be aware of Fedora COSMIC Atomic. That seems like a better reference point.
